Macramé snowflakes for hanging
Make this hanging snowflake using the macramé knot technique. The snowflake is made from cotton twine and is decorated further with wooden beads.
How to do it
Cut a 23 cm piece of cotton twine and 12 pieces of cotton twine each measuring 40 cm.
Braid the 12 pieces of cotton twine onto the short piece of cotton twine as shown in the photo.
Tie a knot on the short piece of cotton twine.
Tighten the knot and tie another knot thus tying a reef knot.
Secure both ends with a needle and trim. Gather the pieces of cotton twine in 6 bunches each consisting of 4 pieces of cotton twine.
Print the template which is available as a separate PDF file on this page and place the braiding on top. Make two double braiding knots from each side of the 6 points on the template.
Take two pieces of cotton twine from each side and make a braiding knot between the 6 points as shown in the photo.
Divide the pieces of cotton twine from the bunches yet again and make two double braiding knots on each of the points.
Trim the excess cotton twine on five of the six points.
Thread two wooden beads onto the the two pieces of cotton twine at the sixth point and tie a knot for hanging.
